Microsoft Windows 11 is a free upgrade from Windows 8 and 10, and in some cases, from Windows 7.

You may be prompted to install Windows 11 from Windows Update after having updated your PC.

If you are prompted as such, and wish to take the upgrade, you may typically safely do so.

We do suggest backing up your PC prior to any major update.

After having backed up your PC:

Depending on the age of your Rok Box, you may or may not be able to upgrade your PC to Windows 11.

There are specific requirements that Microsoft has imposed on PC hardware for the installation of Windows 11, specifically, that your motherboard has UEFI TPM (Trusted Platform Module) technology installed and enabled.

This feature and its enablement differs based on the motherboard on which your Rok Box is built; however, you can check if TPM is enabled in your UEFI BIOS by pressing DEL as the PC boots to enter the UEFI BIOS configuration.

Once there, navigate to Advanced/Security and ensure that TPM is set to ENABLED. If it is not, set to ENABLED, then click Exit/Save Changes and Reboot.  Allow your PC to reboot.

If this option is not present, it may be able to be activated with a BIOS update.
