How to backup your Rok Box PC

Performing a system backup is important so that you can backup your settings and configuration of your PC and its configuration.

When your PC ships to you, a backup will have been created on your Audio or Samples drive in your PC. This folder is called "WINDOWSIMAGEBACKUP".

You may wish to make a copy of this folder to an external drive, or, alternatively, you may right-click this folder, click "rename", and then append the number 1 to the folder.

This will keep the backup folder intact, allowing you to do another Windows Image Backup without overwriting your original backup folder, which contains the Windows backup which was included with your PC.

With that done, we can move on to backing up your PC, which we suggest doing at least once a week/month.

Backing up on Windows 11:

1. Click Start.

2. Type: Control Panel.

3. Click the found item, which will open the Control Panel.

4. In the Control Panel window, type: backup into the search box.

5. The item, "Backup and Restore (Windows 7) "will be found. Click on it.

6. You'll be presented with a window that will allow you to choose to perform a Windows System Image backup by clicking "Create a system image".

In the resulting window, you'll see:

Click the option "On a hard disk", and click the pulldown menu to choose the drive to which you wish to backup. If you opt to perform your backup onto the same drive on which your original PCAudioLabs backup was created when your PC was built, the backup console will alert you that there is an earlier backup on this drive.

Note that if you do this, you will be overwriting the backup image that was created for you; this is the primary reason for copying said WINDOWSIMAGEBACKUP folder to an external drive prior to performing this operation.

Follow the onscreen instructions to perform the backup, which may take over 30 minutes to complete.

When the process is complete, Windows will notify you. Click OK.

If you wish to use a more robust backup method which can be scheduled and utilize incremental backups, we suggest Paragon Backup and Recovery, a free version for which is available by clicking here.
