How to backup your PCAudioLabs Pro Audio PC

Performing a system backup is important so that you can backup your settings and configuration of your PC and its configuration. 

When your PC ships to you, a backup will have been created on your Audio or Samples drive in your PC. This folder is called "windowsimagebackup". 

You may wish to make a copy of this folder to an external drive, or, alternatively, you may right-click this folder, click "rename", and then append the number 1 to the folder. This will keep the backup folder intact, allowing you to do another Windows Image Backup without overwriting your original backup folder, which contains the Windows backup which was included with your PC. 

With that done, we can move on to backing up your PC, which we suggest doing at least once a week/month. 

Backing up on Windows 10: 

  1. With Windows 10 booted, press the Start button in Windows.  Type “Backup”, and select “Backup and restore (Windows 7)” from the found items. 

  2. Click “Windows image backup” in the resulting window. 

  3. Windows will ask where you’d like to save your backup; if you are overwriting the image shipped with your computer, the option “On a hard drive” will be selected automatically and you will overwrite your previous restore image. NOTE: You should back this folder up to another hard drive for your protection!  If you wish to backup to a different location, select a different hard drive from the pulldown menu, or select “On one or more DVDs” to backup to DVDs. Backing up to DVDs may take awhile, and optical media can be easily damaged. We suggest backing up to a hard drive for the best performance. 

  4. Proceed with the backup process. Your system is now backed up. You may also wish to use an online, cloud-Enabled backup option (Such as Backblaze), to backup your system and its files, in the case of a total data loss. 


Backing up on Windows 11: 

1. Click Start. 

2. Type: Control Panel. 

3. Click the found item, which will open the Control Panel. 

4. In the Control Panel window, type: backup into the search box. 

5. The item, "Backup and Restore (Windows 7) will be found. Click on it. 

6. You'll be presented with a window that will allow you to choose to perform a Windows System Image backup by clicking "Create a system image". 




In the resulting window, you'll see: 



Click the option "On a hard disk", and click the pulldown menu to choose the drive to which you wish to backup. 


Follow the onscreen instructions to perform the backup.
