Windows System Restore from System Image
Your factory installation of Windows, including any custom software installations and hardware drivers, is recoverable from unforeseen events such as viruses, unstable software downloads, and hard drive failures, and is included on the Audio or Samples Drive installed in your computer (depending on your configuration chosen when you purchased your PC).
This restore image is stored on your Audio or Samples drive in a folder labeled “WindowsImageBackup”.
Please DO NOT Delete this folder! If you delete it, you will lose your recovery image.
It is also advised to make a secondary backup of this WINDOWSIMAGEBACKUP folder to a hard drive not in your computer, such as a backup hard drive kept in a secure place.
In the event of a data loss, Windows issue, or other system issue, the PCAudioLabs Restore Image can be used with your existing or a new hard drive to bring your system back to the way it was when you first received it.
You will lose all files on the OS hard drive that were written to it after the system arrived to you.
Your system will be refreshed to its original state, as it was when it was built for you.
You will not lose files on your other hard drives, but it’s good to back them up.
To restore your Rok Box to its factory settings (when your computer was built for you):
If your system will boot normally, but you’d like to re-image it, Click the Start button in Windows, and then type “Advanced Startup”, and select “Change Advanced Startup Options”.
In the resulting Window, Click “Restart now” under “Advanced Startup”.
Your PC will reboot. Now, jump to step #10. Otherwise, continue to the next step.
If your PC will not boot, or if you wish to re-image your system using an external device (such as an external hard drive to which you've done a backup), Insert the Windows 10/11 repair USB (optionally added to your PC build when you configured your system, or created by you after having received your PC), or the Windows installation DVD disc (if you do not have either of the former).
If you do not have a Windows Repair USB, you may create one on another Windows-based PC using instructions found by clicking here.
Reboot the computer. As the computer boots, hold down the following key on your keyboard, based on your Rok Box PC model:
The F11 and F12 keys if you have an MC X, MC Z, or CR Rok Box.
The F12 key if you have an OB1 Rok Box.
The F7 key if you have a Rok Box MC Mobile laptop.
You will be presented with a screen which reads “Please select boot device”. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to select the option: “UEFI – USB Device” if booting from a USB recovery drive, or "TSST CORP CD/DVD" if you are booting from an optical disc.
Windows will take a moment to load some files.
You will be presented with a screen which requires you choose your language; choose English, click NEXT.
Click “Repair your computer”.
Click “Troubleshoot”.
Click “Advanced Options”.
Click “System Image Recovery”.
If prompted, select your operating system, Windows 10 or Windows 11.
If prompted, select the Administrator account on your computer; the default is PCAudioLabs. There is no password associated with this account by default. If you opted for a password on your system, or if you logged into your PC using a Microsoft user account, please enter this password.
You will be shown an automatic selection for the most recently created system image to be used (this is the one on your secondary hard drive, created when your system was built for you).
If not ticked, tick the radio button next to “Use the latest available system image”. Click NEXT.
Check “Only restore system drives” If not already selected. Click NEXT.
You will be presented with a summary of your restore; click FINISH. The system will be restored from the factory installation image included with your computer, or, if you’ve updated this image with another windows backup, you will restore to the last known image point.
The computer will reboot.
Remove any Windows disks from the DVD rom and/or remove the Windows Recovery USB from the USB port.
Allow Windows to boot. Windows should now be booted and you should be able to continue working.
We advise that you perform a Windows Image Backup of your computer after you have received it and installed all your necessary applications.
