How to Backup Your BIOS Configuration on your Rok Box

The BIOS is your motherboard's built-in operating system -- it is responsible for telling your hardware how to operate.

Every motherboard features an onboard utility which allows the control and configuration of the BIOS settings, which can be saved in a user profile on your motherboard. This profile is created for you when your Rok Box is built, and stored in a default profile called PCAL.

In the case that you update your BIOS or have another issue, you may need to reload your BIOS profile. Therefore it is suggested to backup your BIOS profile to a USB thumb drive or other external media device, in the case of needing to recover the BIOS settings.

To do so:

1. Boot the PC and press DEL repeatedly as it boots to enter the BIOS.
2. Once in the BIOS, enter ADVANCED MODE (if not already loaded into it) by pressing F7 on your keyboard (this key may differ based on your motherboard model, if F7 does not enter advanced mode, look to the bottom-right of your screen for the shortcut key to enter advanced mode, or use your mouse to navigate to advanced mode).
3. Navigate to the tools menu
4. Under Tools, click user profile
5. Click save user profile to disk.
6. In the resulting window, navigate to the USB thumb drive that you've connected to your PC.

7. Enter a name for the BIOS profile, we suggest: PCAL

7. Save the profile.

8. Exit the BIOS by navigating to the save/exit tab and selecting "Exit without saving changes".

Let the PC reboot normally.

In the case that you need to reload your BIOS settings profile in the future, you may do so via the "Load Profile" option in the BIOS user profile section of your motherboard BIOS.
