Dirty fans can cause your PC to overheat, shut down, or generally function improperly.
It is important that you frequently clean the fans inside of your PC, whether it be a RokBox Desktop or Laptop PC.
To clean your fans:
1. Power your RokBox off.
2. Unplug the power cable or AC adapter.
3. Open your Rok Box by removing the left-hand panel of a tower case, or the top panel of a rackmount case, or in the case of a laptop, flip the laptop 90 degrees over so that you may inspect the fan intake ports on the bottom panel.
4. In desktop/rackmount PCs, clean your fans using a combination of canned air and a vacuum hose attachment to catch dust and debris as you release it with canned air. Simply spraying canned air will only spread dust around the inside of the PC.
5. If fans are excessively dirty, use 91% isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs to clean the fins of your fans.
6. In RokBox laptops, use canned air and a vacuum hose attachment to spray the fan inlets while sucking dust up with the hose.
Once this process is done, you may power your PC back on with the case side removed; inspect the fans. Ensure they are all spinning.
In a laptop system, you'll hear your fans spin up and then slow down as the PC boots. If this does not happen, your laptop's fans may require more attention, which requires removing the bottom panel of the laptop and cleaning all cooling fans.
If you are able to confirm that your fans are properly functioning, you may replace your PC's case side and test the PC for stability.
If your fans are not spinning, and you proceed to clean them more thoroughly, they may require replacement. Contact PCAudioLabs support.
